A life-long dream of living in Florida and owning a shop with a Caribbean flair, together with a desire to be closer to family brought Owner’s Darrell & Nicki Hoke to our beautiful area. Formerly custom home builders, in 2009, they opened Pelican Cottage in North Venice. Needing a larger store they moved to Osprey in 2012. The combination of their talents in home design, decorating and display certainly are showcased in their beautiful new and used furniture store in Osprey, FL. They possess a true passion for transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary and have won awards in recognition of this talent. You will not likely visit another store in the area where such creativity and talent is displayed. Not only is the furniture beautiful, but the store is captivating.
Darrell and Nicki opened The Flamingo’s Nest in March of 2013, just an eighth of a mile south of Pelican Cottage. In July of 2016, they moved the store to 758 S. Tamiami Trail which is right next to Pelican Cottage. In November 2018 Nicki and Darrell made the decision to combine the two store under one roof.
Their goal is to make Pelicans and Flamingos the best new and consignment furniture destination for the area, while providing each visitor with a fun and rewarding shopping experience. Fun because of the cool and unusual things you can find and rewarding because of the great products at reasonable prices.
While Pelican Cottage carried predominately used and consignment furniture with a sprinkling of new furniture mixed in, The Flamingo’s Nest carried predominately new Coastal style furniture and accessories. You will now get the best of both stores under one roof.
You will be greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff, and enjoy a fun and casual environment.
